June is a month of celebration. Graduation. Father's Day. Wedding ceremony. pride. And just… summer!
This means June is the month for gifts and other essential purchases. Whether you're decorating your outdoor space for entertaining, looking for wedding favors, or preparing for a summer outdoor vacation.
So while there aren't any big sales events in June (it's sandwiched between Memorial Day in May and Prime Day in July), there's still plenty to shop and ways to save. To help you make the most of the best early summer savings, we've used the following: Internal discount data Calculate the average discount shoppers can expect in June on popular categories. Top 5 Categories I'm going shopping this month.

In addition to the categories below, check out the June sale as well.
- Father's Day Sale: Like clockwork, retailers start their Father's Day sales right after their Memorial Day sales end. Father's Day falls on June 16 this year, so the first two weeks of the month are filled with deals on tools, men's grooming gifts, and men's clothing.
- Disney Store twice-yearly sale (until June 9): You can find clothing, toys, costumes, etc. at up to 50% discount. Shop all the deals here.
- Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale: No dates have been announced, but this massive sale will definitely start in early June and run pretty much for the rest of the month.
- Gap Cash repayment period: You can redeem all of the Gap Cash you earned between June 5 and June 10 ($10 redeemed for every $25 spent online). Learn more about GapCash.

The 5 smartest things to buy in June
No matter what you need to buy (or want) in June, there are plenty of sale items to shop and smart buys.
1. Photo shooting service (average discount rate: 47% discount)
June 16th is Father's Day. This means the photo gifting site will have a huge hit with promo codes for custom photo gifts like albums, calendars, blankets, mugs, framed photos and more. Most of these sites offer essentially the same service, so they are all competing for your business. Expect discounts of up to 70%. Also look for discounts on unlimited pages in your photo book. Even if you're not shopping for dad, you can use this opportunity to shop for personalized photo gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and even holidays. (As we know, that's a huge start, but the deal is that good).
You can find your savings here. Some of these photo gift sites also offer: Not RetailMeCashback, so activate the offer to get a portion of what you spend back (via Venmo or PayPal). Yes, our cashback comes with all promo codes offered by photography sites.

2. Health and Beauty (Average discount rate: 25% discount)
Beauty retailers have summer sales just like any other retailer. These sales are expected to focus on skincare (due to sun damage) and lip glosses and plushies in summer colors. Pay particular attention to the following:
- Ulta: Expect the Jumbo Love sale (Ulta's semi-annual sale on full-size hair care products) and the Summer Beauty sale in June.
- Bath and Body Works: Bath & Body Works' semi-annual sale is actually scheduled for June. The discount benefits are also quite good. Consider discounts of up to 75%.
3. Home & Garden (Average discount rate: 23% discount)
Missed the Memorial Day Sale? are you okay. The housing category continues to see strong savings rates in June.
Stores like Home Depot and Lowe's are offering discounts on tools and home improvement essentials in the weeks leading up to Father's Day, knowing that shoppers are looking for just the right gift for dad.
Retailers also know that shoppers are looking for home improvement items as they prepare for garage cleaning, patio parties, gardening and other time-honored summer traditions. So, they will offer sales for shoppers to check out.
4. Clothing (average discount rate: 23% discount)
If you need to buy last-minute clothing (vacation clothes, shorts, t-shirts, etc.) to get ready for summer, you can get an average of 23% off in June. Shopping tip: You can save money by shopping a season later. Get over 60% off spring items still on the shelves. Expect smaller discounts on items that are currently in high demand.
Savvy shoppers will check Target's weekly ad to find a variety of summer essentials on sale each week. Or check out Kohl's, which refreshes discount codes weekly. Plus, take advantage of Old Navy's June Super Cash Earnings period starting June 1 and cash in those Super Cash to buy clothing for the whole family.
5. Travel (average discount rate: 16% discount)
To get the biggest discounts when booking travel in June, we recommend focusing on last-minute travel for summer and fall travel.
When the last moment comes, Expedia is offering discounts of over 25%. Limited to last minute reservations until June 12th.
Later this month, you'll start to see travel sites offering discounts on fall travel. This is because we know that summer is likely already in the books. For example, last year Frontier launched its All-You-Can-Fly fall pass in early June. Cruise lines will also be launching deals for the off-season (but beware: fall is hurricane season in some areas). Royal Caribbean, for example, is offering solid September deals.
