The Leftovers is a look at some of the product ideas that are popping up everywhere. Some are interesting, some sound amazing, and some are the kinds of ideas we would never dream of. We couldn't write everything we suggested, so here are some remaining items from our inbox:

Care Bears makes good use of trendy characteristics

Care Bears has teamed up with Warheads to bring the popular sour and gummy trend to nostalgic consumers.

Warheads, known for its popular 80s plush toy franchise and sour candies, is releasing Sour Gummy Grumpy Bears. The new bite-sized gummies (blue raspberry flavored teddy bears with a sour twist) will be available in June.

“We are thrilled to partner with Care Bears in bringing Sour Gummy Grumpy Bears to life,” said Lindsay Karlin, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Impact Confections. “This collaboration is the perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation, capturing the essence of both brands while delivering fresh and exciting products.”

Impact Confections said the new candy celebrates the product's rich history while embracing an industry trend called 'newstalgia' that paves the way for new and exciting twists on beloved classics.

This is a smart way for Impact to create a product that simultaneously appeals to the interests of both younger and older consumers.

Few trends are as popular with today's consumers as gummies and sours. In particular, sour taste captures the hearts of young consumers. According to IndustryARC, the sour candy market size is estimated to reach $2.7 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 7.3%.

As for Gumi, many older people grew up eating this snack as children. Now adults are nostalgic for their youth and are turning to snacks that remind them of the past.

Kellanova brought the ‘spicy’ trend to snacking.

Consumers are eating more spicy snacks than ever before, and Kellanova is providing even more spicy snacks with the help of a trendy brand.

The company has released Club Crisps in Mike's Hot Honey flavor for a limited time. According to a press release, the crackers feature a buttery flavor with the sweet heat of chili-infused honey.

“We’re always eager to learn what our fans are obsessed with with new flavors to create fun and unique snacking experiences,” Carrie Foose, director of brand marketing for Kellanova’s crackers, said in a statement.

Kellanova first launched Club Crisps, sweet and savory wavy crisp crackers, in 2022 as an extension of its nearly 100-year-old Club Crackers brand. The company sells the snack in four different flavors: Sea Salt, Ranch, Sour Cream & Onion, and Sweet & Salty.

Mike's Hot Honey was founded in 2010 after founder Mike Kurtz experimented with adding sweet heat to pizza while working at a New York City pizzeria. This product is currently the best-selling hot honey in the United States.

Foods and drinks with “spicy” flavors that combine sweet and spicy flavors have become popular on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram over the past few years, from flavored syrups to cocktail mixers to chocolate cake. Kellanova cited Datassential figures showing a 38% increase in sweet snacks and menu items last year.

PepsiCo's snack division, Frito-Lay, also took note of the sweet snack boom with Baja Fiery Mango, a collaboration between Doritos and Mtn Dew that launched this spring.

Alex Ice Cream Introduces 9 New Flavors

With the unofficial start of summer this weekend, Alec's Ice cream, made with A2/A2 dairy products and sustainably sourced regenerative organic ingredients, is introducing nine new flavors.

These include Meyer Lemon Cookies, Palm Springs Banana Chocolate Date Shake, Nutty Butter Brittle, Maple Cardamom Candy Pecan, and Strawberry Oat Crumble. Alec's sources its ingredients from regenerative organic farms.

“By ensuring that our ingredients are renewable and organic, we provide an unrivaled level of quality in sourcing our ingredients. Our dairy ice cream tastes fantastic, is good for you and good for the planet,” Alec Jaffe, CEO and founder of Alec’s Ice Cream, said in a statement.

Nine new flavors will launch nationwide this spring, expanding Alec's lineup to 14 flavors. Select Whole Foods Market stores will carry all flavors, along with many independent stores.

The A2 ice cream market is growing rapidly due to consumer demand for healthier, easier-to-digest dairy alternatives. According to Future Market Insights, this category is expected to exceed $360 million by 2034.

Most dairy products contain both A1 and A2 proteins, but medical studies have shown that A1 may cause gastrointestinal discomfort. A2 milk contains only the protein that the consumer can tolerate.
