Sweden's Sebastian Soderberg stormed into an eight-stroke lead after day three of the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed in Helsingborg, with Scotland's Callum Hill and Great Britain's Alice Hewson the closest challengers.
Soderberg will look to translate his good recent form into his first DP World Tour win since 2019. The 33-year-old Swede entered his home event after recording three top-three finishes and missing the cut at the PGA Championship in his last event. 4 starts.
He continued that momentum at Vasatorps Golfklubb, shooting rounds of 63, 66 and 66 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively to sit at 21 under par after 54 holes.
Hill was Soderberg's closest challenger at 13 under par after shooting a 67 with eight birdies and three bogeys.
Hewson was the leading player on the Ladies European Tour after three rounds and finished at 12 under par alongside home hopeful Alexander Bjork and Spain's Santiago Tarrio. This week's event saw men and women competing in the same group for one prize and one trophy.
Soderberg, who started the day with a three-stroke lead, made four birdies on the first nine holes to gain a six-stroke advantage at the turn.
Soderberg dropped his first shot on the 14th after recording 21 under par with consecutive birdies on the 12th and 13th holes.
But he pulled off a comeback win in the 15th and went home in a strong position to win his second DP World Tour title.
“It was very solid all around,” he said. “I still have a lot of good shots and putts, so I have nothing to complain about.”
“I have so many friends and family here. It may not seem like I’m taking it all in, but I am. I’m staying in my zone, my bubble, just fine so far.
“And that’s what I have to continue doing tomorrow.”
