Australian Bradley Murdoch, who murdered the UK backpacker Peter Palconio in 2001, died of sore cancer.
67 -year -old Murdoch was sentenced to death at a prison at Alice Springs in Australia’s Northern Territory.
The Northern Territory Correction said Murdoch to the BBC died in the relaxation treatment department of Alice Spring Hospital on July 15 after the 24th anniversary of the murder.
In the statement, the Northern Territory Police said: “I’m very sorry that Murdoch did not disclose the location of Peter Palconio as we know.”
Murdoch’s death will be subject to the Northern Territory Corp., officials added.
In 2005, Murdoch was convicted of murdering Falconio in Yorkshire, but he did not reveal his position.
Falconio died on the highway near Barrow Creek in the northern region of about 300 km (186 miles) north of Alice Springs in July 2001.
Murdoch insisted that he saw Spark coming from the camper van next to Falconio’s car.
He took Palconio’s 28 -year -old Joanne Lees, a girlfriend of Palconio at the time, and shot Palconio on his head by checking the car before tieing his wrists with cable ties.
MURDOCH was also convicted of the kidnapping and assault of Yorkshire’s LEES, and also escaped the outback scrub for several hours before requesting help.
“(Murdoch’s) silence has long denied closure of values for the Falconio family.
This trial was partially inspired by the 2001 horror film Wolf Creek.
Murdoch was 43 years old when he committed a crime.
The prosecution said that during the trial, Murdoch had caused Palconio’s body to be about 1,600 km (1,000 km) somewhere in the vast wilderness of the wilderness between Alice Springs and Broom.
In 2016, the Northern Territory introduced the bill, “No body, no parole,” which means that if Murdoch did not reveal the position of Falconio’s body, he would not deserve a parole in 2032.
Murdoch always maintained his innocence and failed to turn his belief twice.
Colleen Gwynne, an investigator for Palconio’s murder, said it was a “sad day” to Palconio’s family to Australian broadcasting companies and a “great opportunity” to find his remains.
Falconio’s father, Luciano, said in an interview with the local newspaper NT News this week, “I hope I can find him and finish it and bury it.”
Luciano said, “I know what happened, but I don’t know where he is.”
The Northern Territory police said they were “doing their best to solve this last investigation,” and repeatedly that the rewards of up to $ 500,000 (£ 240,000) can be used to find the ruins of the murdered British backpackers.
At the end of June, the police said at the press conference at the end of June that the police said, “I made a lot of approach.” But unfortunately he chose not to interact with the police in all cases. ”
According to a statement that Murdoch’s family died, he added, “Until he died in the arrest, he always denied the responsibility for crime and” he was much more than the headline. “
