Do you regularly urge to move your legs every time you sit, sit in one place? Is your sleep stopped because you move your legs unconsciously? If so, you may have an unstable leg syndrome (RLS).

What is RLS?

Mayo Clinic defines the urge to move the legs to relieve the inconvenience of RLS. With this, it is common to experience.1

• The uncomfortable sense of the leg that starts while taking a break- This starts when you stay in bed or sit in a chair for an extended time.

• Relief by movement- RLS symptoms are reduced when moving the body. For example, there are stretching, twisted legs, spacing or walking.

• Sticking your legs at night- RLS is usually connected to another common state, periodic limb movement (PLM). The legs fall asleep all night.

RLS patients are attractive, unpleasant, and impulses to move affect both sides of the body. You can see that the sensation develops in the legs, not the skin, and is often described as follows.

• crawling

• crawl

• pluck

• winter season

• sick

• itch

• electric

Identify the signs and symptoms of RLS

To reach an accurate diagnosis, the doctor examines you according to the following criteria.2

• You have an urge to move your legs. This occurs with an uncomfortable sense, such as pain or pulling.

• Symptoms begin or worsen during rest or inactivation.

• Experience parts or complete slogans when stretching, walking or exercising the affected muscles.

• Your symptoms worsen at night.

• Other medical conditions did not cause symptoms.

RLS is usually a fundamental disease, not the disease itself. If symptoms appear, this may be the following:3

• Peripheral neuropathy- Nerve damage to hands and feet is sometimes caused by chronic diseases such as diabetes. Alcohol abuse is also a factor.

• Iron deficiency- Low iron figures are known to cause or worsen RLS and are also known even when there is a troop of gastrointestinal or intestinal bleeding.

• Kidney failure- In terms of the above example, renal failure often leads to iron deficiency. If the kidneys do not work well, the iron levels of the blood will be reduced.

• Spinal cord state- The injury that affects the spinal cord is associated with RLS.

• Parkinson’s bottle- Those who are diagnosed in this state are increasing the risk of developing RLS.

Search for medical and herbs on RLS

Cleveland Clinic has an RL of about 7% to 10% of Americans, and often the first treatment of treatment is the following neurotransmitter adjusted drugs:4

• Antiseizure drug (Gabapentin and pregabalin)

• Dopamine agent (PRAMIPEXOLE and ROPINIROLE)

• Dopamine (Levodopa)

Certain drugs, such as Benzodiazepam and even opioids (metadon and bouf frenorpins), are provided to patients with serious symptoms. However, taking these drugs causes serious side effects and lifelong dependence.

On the other hand, “medical remedies” do not necessarily mean pharmaceutical or complex inpatient patient procedures.5 Sometimes, what you need to do is to increase these nutrients.

• steel – Studies have shown that RLS patients generally have low iron levels in the brain, and increasing can help to relieve symptoms through epigenetic genetic control.6

If you decide to follow this path, find out what iron levels are. Too many iron is associated with cognitive reduction, ultimately contributing to Alzheimer’s disease. You don’t even have to take any supplements.

• Magnesium and vitamins B6- According to a paper published in 2022, the combination of magnesium and vitamin B6 helped to reduce the seriousness and sleep quality of RLS symptoms.7

• Vitamin D- Studies have shown that RLS patients generally lack this nutrient and will be relaxed by increasing intake.8

In addition to these mentioned nutrients, traditional herbs, such as Dangguijakyak-San (DS) and Shihogyeji-Tang (ST), are effective for RLS management. In a case study published in medicine, researchers explained the successful treatment of 72 -year -old women who suffered from RLS for almost 60 years.9

• RLS interferes with sleep. At the time of the study, the patient was also recovering from stroke. She experienced severe symptoms and interfered with sleep. The only way to subside is to move the legs.

• Philosophy of DS and ST- The patient provided DS and ST to solve the principles of East Asian medicine, that is, RL and other basic defects defined by XUE deficiency (blood deficiency) and QI identity.

• Herbal medicine produces safe and positive results. After starting the herbal treatment program for a week, the patient experienced a decrease in symptoms. For the next 47 days, she continued to improve and was not considered to be not needed after the treatment was discontinued. Six months later, in the subsequent measures, she reported that the symptoms did not come back.

Deeply into DS and ST, this herb combination is aimed at the basis of the inconvenience of RLS and the root cause of anxiety by maintaining the balance of blood and energy flow in the body.10

• Main components of the two formulas- Both DS and ST include Paeoniae Radix. As mentioned in the study, this compound is rich in paeoniflorin that activates the A1 receptor (A1R).

• Role of A1R- A1R helps to stabilize neurotransmitter activities, the core player of brain metabolism. This effect is known in RLS by stabilizing dopamine imbalances.

In the context, dopamine is a neurotransmitter that helps to control exercise, and dysfunction is often associated with RL. By improving dopamine activity, Paeoniae Radix helps to reduce the urge to move your legs at night.

• DS and ST are safe to use. According to researchers, DS and ST did not cause side effects for patients and emphasized them in a safe and sustainable way to manage RLS.

Exercise -Another effective natural therapy for RLS

In a study published in exercise disorders, researchers examined the effects of various exercise programs on RLS.11 They chose 17 patients between 22 and 61 years old and divided them into three groups. One was in control, the other aerobic exercise and finally stretched.

The Aerobics Group received a 40 -minute session for a total of eight weeks. For stretching groups, each session lasted for 40 to 45 minutes during the same period.

• Exercise is a great help to RLS. Researchers have reduced the seriousness of the aerobic movement, especially walking. The patient also reported that the quality of life was improved.

The study theorized that the increased beta-endorphine release, the brain blood flow and nerve plasticity contributed to the change. Researchers said, “As a result, exercise is likely to provide various therapeutic benefits that are compatible with the complex pathology of RLS.”

• Improved RLS symptoms stretching- Stretching mentioned that it is not the same as exercise in relation to strength, but it still reduced the seriousness of the symptoms 18%.

• Increased movement promotes better rest. Movement and stretching have been shown to be helpful for the main aspects of sleep, such as the time and period of time and time to fall asleep.

The above evidence strengthens my position as one of the best exercises I can do to improve my health. It is accessible to most people and is virtually free. Just get up and walk in the community. This not only helps to manage RLS, but also reduces the mortality rate caused by all causes.

Based on an interview with Dr. James Okkip, headquartered in Kansas City, we recommend 10,000 stages (up to 12,000) a day. He explains.

“Obviously, it’s better to be better. You get a big profit in the sedentary lifestyle of 2,000 to 3,000 a day -up to 7,000 or 8,000.

Consider this overall alternative for managing RLS.

In addition to exercise and stretching, meta -analysis published in Cureus investigated other alternatives to better manage RLS.12

• Acupuncture- Ancient healing methods corresponding to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) include inserting needles into a specific point of the body to promote blood flow and maintain the balance of energy.

• Reflective therapy- Pressure to a specific point on the soles of the foot promotes circulation and relaxation.

• Pneumatic compression device (PCD) – This gadget puts pressure on the legs to improve blood flow and reduce RLS symptoms. According to researchers, this method is one of the most promising alternatives.

“PCDs show that RLS is practical and has succeeded in improving the strength of RLS symptoms and all life quality of life.

• Yoga- The researchers pointed out that yoga stabilizes the atmosphere and reduces sleep, which is “an executable option for women after menopause with RLS.”

• Nearby infrared lighting therapy- The literature published before this study pointed out that light exposure helps to relieve discomfort. Four weeks have been extended after stopping treatment.

• Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) – A study cited in meta -analysis showed that the severity of symptoms decreased by 38.89%in six PMR sessions. In the 12th session, the number rose to 61.11%.

For those who are not familiar, PMRs are a way to reduce muscle tension by consciously relaxing and relaxing certain muscle groups. To try PMR, there is a rest order of the clinical arbitration center.

Frequently asked questions about unstable leg syndrome (FAQ)

cue: What is an unstable leg syndrome (RLS) and what is the symptoms?

no way: RLS is a neurological state, characterized by an unrelated impulse to move the legs, and is often accompanied by uncomfortable sensations such as crawling, thread orchoning. Symptoms usually occur during rest or non -activity, worsening in the evening and temporarily relaxed by movement. Many people with RLS also experience the periodic limb movement (PLM), leading to sleep interruption.

cue: How is RLS diagnosed?

no way: Diagnosis is based on several criteria, including moving legs and extinguishing symptoms, exacerbation, movement, evening or night occurrence, and other medical exclusions. RLS often indicates fundamental problems such as iron deficiency, peripheral neuropathy or kidney problems.

cue: What can be used for RLS?

no way: Drugs such as dopamine agents, anti -specifications and opioids are generally prescribed, but are strongly discouraged because they have risks of side effects and dependence. Safe and nutritional approaches include supplements with iron, magnesium, vitamin B6, and vitamin D, and they all show promises to reduce RLS seriousness and improve sleep.

cue: Is there an effective nature or herbal therapy for RLS?

no way: yes. Traditional East Asian herbal formulations, such as Dangguijakyak-San (DS) and Shihogyeji-Tang (ST), including Paeoniae Radix, have shown that they are effective in relieving RLS symptoms without balancing neurotransmitter activities balanced and not causing side effects. This remedy also provides a sustainable long -term solution.

cue: What is the lifestyle and the overall alternative to help you manage RLS?

no way: Exercise, especially walking and stretching, greatly reduced RLS symptoms and improved the quality of sleep. Other overall therapies include acupuncture, reflection therapy, yoga, Progressive Muscle relaxation (PMR), pneumatic compression and near -infrared lighting therapy. Such alternatives improve circulation, reduce stress, and improve sleep.
