Nominees may receive awards for their hard work and dedication to the film, but at the end of the night, the real prize comes when Wolfgang Puck Catering serves the delicious food at the Governors Oscar Ball. This year, the culinary mogul will cater approximately 1,500 guests at the exclusive after-party held at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. And yes, it is. I got a glimpse of all the innovative dishes that dominate celebrity cuisine.
This is the third year that you’ve had the privilege of wandering around a room that will soon be filled with your favorite actors, all hungry after hours of an awards show without food. Puck has dishes like mini cheeseburgers, macaroni and cheese, vegan sushi, tomahawk steak, chicken pot pie, and chicken Caesar pizza ready and waiting for you. This is just the tip of the iceberg. After sampling some of the featured appetizers and sweets, we’ll introduce you to the restaurants and cocktails we think are award-winning.
ice cream

Wolfgang Puck’s son, Byron Puck, introduced us to the beauty of their made-from-scratch ice cream, sorbet and gelato stations. These settings are constantly changed so the dessert stays “soft”, “light” and “soft” all night, maintaining the perfect temperature and consistency.
salmon crackers

Every year, Puck serves Oscar-shaped smoked salmon crackers topped with caviar.
cocktail

Tequila Don Julio bar is run by mixologists Lorenzo Antinori and Charles Joly, who own Bar Leone, which ranked second on the 2024 list of the world’s 50 best bars. Here you’ll find iconic cocktails like the Golden Cut Margarita (finished with roasted baby corn) and the Best In Show (a refreshing cocktail featuring vermouth, tequila, elderflower liqueur, cucumber syrup, and more).
chocolate oscar

My favorite part of the previews is always munching on the mini Golden Chocolate Oscar Men, made up of 70% dark chocolate laced with a combination of lemon extract, gold powder, and triple sec. Plus, Puck’s Executive Pastry Chef Garry Larduinat let me spray it myself, so it was definitely an exciting moment for me.
motive

For the second year in a row, you can visit a sake station stocked with Blue 23 varieties from Japanese brand Dassai. I found it to be incredibly soft and luxurious since it only contains 23% rice.

What better way to end the experience than eating a juicy steak and laughing with Wolfgang and his son?
