A16z Offers Social Media Tips After Founder's 'Attack' Tweet Goes Viral

Friday, venture firm Andreessen Horowitz Tweeted the link Introducing our guide to “How to Build a Social Media Presence,” which offers entrepreneurs advice on things like “how to find people” and “how often to post.”

The timing of the tweet was ironic, given the social media frenzy that followed founder Ben Horowitz’s posting on X on Friday. He was upset by a story in the San Francisco Standard about his family’s political donations, and accused rival VC Michael Moritz, who owns the Standard, of fabricating the story. (Standard editor-in-chief John Steinberg said he wrote the story and that Moritz had nothing to do with it.)

A16z’s Marc Andreessen has also had a famous and sometimes combative relationship with social media. The Meta board member quit Twitter in 2016 because it was becoming too toxic for him, but returned and quickly built up a massive following. Earlier this year, he and VC Vinod Khosla were feuding over AI at X Platform (formerly Twitter), an Andreessen Horowitz investor.
