I was not so brave in the final Furlong to reject the full runner point Lynas in ASCOT’s Cornish Orchards Summer Mile Stakes.
The long -standing leader began to feel the speed of two idiots, and the winners of the royal meeting never be brave and HAATEM began to pursue and eventually caught the point Lynas within the miles.
Spencer’s mountains were dug deep, but ultimately couldn’t stop 11-8 shots, David Probert won 3/4 lengths, and 11-10 favorite HAATEMs beat more than three-thirds.
Balding told Sky Sports Racing: “If the word was comfortable, it was a bit nervous that it was good enough to win today. He was beautiful, but obviously we had to move a little faster than we thought, but we were thrilled with his progress because we were more than we thought. I had to move a little faster.
“We put him in Lennox (Goodwood’s steak), but we wanted to try the miles, but he is very versatile, and I think he can be up to six idiots and up to one mile. He is very good.
“I’m not sure (we’ll go to Goodwood), I will have to discuss it with the owner because I have opened some more options, knowing that he maintains a mile.”
