For the first time in 15 years, Formula 1 will have three drivers competing for the title in the season finale with Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri competing for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix championship.
Norris is 12 points ahead of Verstappen and 16 points ahead of Piastri, so a podium would be enough to make him world champion, but that’s never easy in Formula 1.
Verstappen and Piastri realistically need to win Sunday’s race, and hope Norris has some bad luck or makes a mistake to steal the title.
Mercedes is 33 points ahead of Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship, in the race for second place behind McLaren.
Abu Dhabi is the last race to use current F1 cars before new rules are introduced in 2026 that could shake up the rankings.
Abu Dhabi GP Track – Yas Marina Circuit
The Yas Marina Circuit has been changed for 2021 to provide more overtaking opportunities with wider corners to make the 3.281-mile circuit easier to follow.
The two best places to move remain at Turn Six and Turn Nine at the end of two straight sections, the final of which tests the car’s downforce and balance.

Abu Dhabi GP Weather Yas Marina
Of course, there will be no rain in Abu Dhabi. Temperatures will rise to 28C during the day, including qualifying on Saturday and racing on Sunday, before dropping to 23C in the evening sessions.
