Adam Hills: Comedian and broadcaster to succeed Sir Lindsay Hoyle as Rugby Football League chairman | Rugby League News

Comedian and broadcaster Adam Hills is set to succeed Sir Lindsey Hoyle as the next chairman of the Rugby Football League.

Hills has been an advocate for disability rugby league as an ambassador and player representing Warrington and his home country of Australia.

The 54-year-old presents Channel 4's Super League broadcasts and is best known as one of the anchors of The Last Leg alongside Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe.

Hill's appointment was proposed at the Rugby League Council's annual general meeting on Wednesday and he will be formally elected for a two-year term in December.

RFL chief executive Tony Sutton said: “No one has advocated rugby league more passionately and eloquently in the media in recent years than Adam, whether presenting Channel 4’s Super League coverage or welcoming England’s Wheelchair World Cup winner as a guest on The Last Leg.

“He also has integrity and has been a mainstay of Para rugby league since its inception in 2018.”

Hoyle, who is Speaker of the House of Commons, took over as RFL president in 2022.

RFL also announced that its pre-tax loss for 2023 had fallen to £53,000 from £946,000 in 2022. Its overall balance at the end of last year was “more than £5.9 million”.
