According to the Massillon Jean market, Gena Heraty, the director of the facility, is one of the many people from Sainte-Hélène Orphanage, a personally operated in Kenscoff near the capital of IT, the capital of Haiti.
Her whereabouts are not known because she brought seven employees and children from an orphanage and cared for more than 250 children.
The Irish government said it has intensive efforts to secure the release.
Heraty, originally from Mayo County’s Westport, supervises an orphanage operated by NOS PETITS FRERES ET SOTURS, a humanitarian organization in a community community about 10 km southeast of the capital.
Massillon Jean market said that attackers invaded the orphanage at about 15:30 (07:30 GMT) local time.
Jean said the attackers went through the wall and entered the real estate.
The gangs were thought to be responsible for this attack.
‘The situation is evolving and deeply worried’
In the statement, Heraty’s family described the situation as “evolving and deeply worried,” and said, “absolutely devastated.”
“We are working closely with international partners who are doing everything as possible to ensure the safe and immediate release of Haiti and Irish’s NPFS (NOS PETITS ET Sotences), Irish government and Gena and her colleagues.
“We are not in a position to share more details in terms of continuous efforts and respect for the safety of Gena,” says the family statement.

Gang violence and kidnapping are common in Port-Au-Prince and other areas around them, and the United Nations says armed groups control about 85%of the city.

NPH International, a charity that works with the orphans of Latin America and Caribbean, abandoned and vulnerable children, also demanded the release of hostages and is doing everything that can help to bring home safely.
‘Living saint’
Tommy Marren, the presenter of Mayo County’s midwest Radio, said Gena Heraty was described as “passionate, altruistic, elastic and elastic” and she was considered “living saint” in Mayo County.

“The neighborhood where the orphanage is located has been assaulted for the last six months, and this attack reminds us how weak the situation is.”
