By arriving in Guanacaste in the morning, travelers can arrive and arrive at their beach destination the same day.
Why this path is important
These new direct flights will significantly reduce travel times for passengers departing from British Columbia and the broader Western Canadian markets by eliminating the need to connect through eastern Canadian gateways such as Toronto or Montreal.
It also strengthens Guanacaste’s position as one of Costa Rica’s most important tourist gateways, especially for international travelers heading to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
In Costa Rica, the route has been extended deeper into Canada, opening up new visitor flows in a region that previously required longer routes and multiple stops.
Where this flight takes you
Guanacaste’s international airport is the gateway to Costa Rica’s most popular coastal destinations, including: Tamarindo, Playa Flamingo, Nosara, Samara.
Travelers use the airport to reach beach towns, surf destinations, and resort communities along the Pacific Coast.
Part of a larger winter push
The new Vancouver-Guanacaste service is part of Air Canada’s broader winter strategy focused on sun destinations, adding more non-stop options to the in-demand leisure market.
For travelers, this addition means a more direct route from Canada’s west coast to Costa Rica and another easy option for winter travel to the region.
