Airbnb announced Tuesday that it is expanding its service capabilities with a new category for car pickup in 125 cities around the world. The company has partnered with transport company Welcome Pickups to allow users to book private car services in cities including Paris, Bali and Mexico City.
The travel agency said it is running trials in Europe and Asia this year, where it has been used by “thousands of guests” with an average rating of 4.96. Airbnb said that when you book a stay in a city where the service is available, you will see an option to book a private taxi to your accommodation in the Travel tab of the Airbnb app. Users can check their taxi booking details and make changes directly from the app.
“Airbnb’s services are designed to enhance our guests’ stay experience, and through our partnership with Welcome Pickups, we deliver this from the moment guests arrive,” Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer, said in a statement.
The company said it plans to expand the service to more cities and regions this year. Airbnb launched its Services category last summer with an expansion of Experiences. At the time, users in eight countries offered services in 10 categories, including chef bookings, catering, meal preparation, photography, massage, spa treatments, personal training, hair, nails and makeup.
Last November, the company announced a partnership with Instacart to allow customers to order groceries before and during their stay in select U.S. cities.
With the launch of new features, Airbnb is moving towards a full service offering. The company is also experimenting with allowing users to book hotel rooms.
In its fourth quarter 2025 earnings call, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the opportunity in hotels is enormous and that the platform will be able to become part of users’ journeys “no matter what kind of stay a guest wants.”
