How safe is the sky in India?
At least 270 people have died in the destructive AIR India Crash in June. The London Bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner took less than a minute after taking off at Ah Medidabad Airport in West India on June 12.
In an interview with the BBC, “The sky of India has been safe today, today, and today.
“Looking at the global safety indicators issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), India traces the number of accidents per flights, and India continues to achieve better than the world average.”
“In 2010-2024, it took only two years when we exceeded the global average. This was a few years when a major accident occurred.”
In August 2020, the AIR India Express Flight 1344 slipped on a rainy desk runway in Kozhikode and crashed after 21 people died. Ten years ago, in May 2010, 812 in Dubai jumped beyond Mangalore’s runway and 158 people died. The AIR India Crash in June was the third accident in this country in 15 years.
These major thinking is rare, but recent headlines have raised new concerns. From the Delhi-Srinagar flight, which has reached serious turbulence, to the increase of reports on maintenance and lack of training, we will focus on the question about aviation safety.
Recently, SPICEJET, the fourth largest and longest last low -cost airline in India, has been included.
According to the Economic Times newspaper, aviation regulatory agencies have recently summoned the airline’s leadership after a series of amazing investigations caused by a British airline company, not a series of warnings.
The newspaper reported earlier this year that the DE HAVILLALLAND Q400 TurboProps of SPICEJET showed an early propeller failure. The airline warned Dowty Propellers, a British manufacturer, and damaged the internal bearings of the propeller.
Each propeller has bearings with two laces or rings or tracks. In this case, the internal race is damaged. SPICEJET is known to continue to apply more Greece in the units instead of solving the root cause, and Dowty, which is frustrated due to lack of corrective action, has expanded the problem directly to India’s aviation regulators, the newspaper reported.
The report said in April that DGCA’s own audit was “more defective, including the occurrence of SNAG.”
KIDWAI told the BBC that “Turboprop propellers have attracted our attention through one of the SPICEJET’s maintenance organizations.”
“We took it with SPICEJET and took correctional measures. We also learned that high -ranking executives did not fully recognize the situation. We originally took measures for the original equipment manufacturers and various posts who had to comply with other regulations. I instructed. “
In recent years, Reuters reported that the AIR INDIA budget airline was disciplined in March to delay the replacement of the required engine parts of the Airbus A320 in March and to show the compliance of regulations.
AIR INDIA Express said that the news agency recognized an error in DGCA and performed “treatment and preventive measures.”
KidWai said that the information came through “self -report” in this case.
“I will not forgive it (Labs). But at least we started getting this report. This came out of the airline. In this case, the action was taken. In our audit we made more warnings and checked our progress.”
In May, Indigo flights from Delhi to Srinagar faced severe turbulence and healed about 45 minutes after takeoff.
The Airbus A321, which carries 222 passengers, met an extreme vertical air current (upward draft and down draft) that removed overhead beans and caused nose damage. The crew proclaimed an emergency and landed safely in Srina Gar without injury. The regulatory agency began the investigation and the two pilots were grounded.
KIDWAI told the BBC that regulators have “refined” the guidelines for pilots flying in turbulence conditions.
For example, if there is an important cloud cover or weather pattern that causes risks, “We have clearly defined such risks” -Pollectors now have to take specific measures.
“This may include a transition, wandering around or taking other appropriate measures.”
According to the federal private aviation department data, Indian airlines have reported 2,461 technical defects since 2020. Indigo accounted for more than half (1,288), with 633 people, with 389 AIR India and subsidiary Air Indian Express as of January 2025.
KidWai said, “Airline’s obstacles have risen. This is good.”
“I will not say I’m happy about it. But I am getting more and more value in Snags. It is much better to catch the authority of the authorities than the authorities quiet and operate the aircraft.”
KIDWAI said, “It is important to check whether the transition time of the flight is suitable for the check of the flight.”
Certainly, the demand for regulators has increased. India has emerged as the third largest passenger aviation market in the world. In the past two years, however, the Ministry of Airlines has faced a reduction in budget, with a decrease in financial priority in this sector.
Today, the planned airline in this country operates almost 850 aircraft, which has increased significantly in 400 units just 10 years ago.
The number of air passengers has more than doubled from 116 million to 290 million since 2014-15.
The number of commercial airfields has increased significantly from about 60-70 10 years ago to almost 130-140 today.
KIDWAI said, “A total of 1,288 aircrafts, including planned operators and non -artistic operators. At the end of 10 years, we are expected to operate more than 2,000 aircraft.” (The operator who is not booked includes a charter airline, a private jet operator, airline taxi and helicopter services.)
Did the latest AIR India Crash collect the reputation of Indian aviation trips? KidWai said the data did not point to it.
“We have investigated data to evaluate whether it has affected domestic or international operation. Traffic has not been significantly reduced. In the maximum, we have been very limited in the short term, which has affected both domestic and international flights and some cancellation,” the BBC said.
“It is natural that people feel anxious after such an incident. But over time, it becomes clearer and if the situation is better understood, the anxiety tends to sink. Time is a big therapist.”
