Alaska Air Group, which now includes the Hawaiian Airlines brand, will make Seattle a global trans-Pacific gateway.
Starting May 12, the company will begin service between Seattle and Tokyo Narita using Hawaii-branded Airbus A330-200 aircraft. In October, we plan to expand flights from Seattle to Seoul.
In total, Alaska Air Group plans to serve at least 12 destinations around the world with widebody aircraft departing from Seattle by 2030. More details about the destination will be released at a later date.
Alaska Air Group made the announcement at its Investor Day event on December 10th. The company also announced plans to increase connectivity for travelers from the East Coast and Midwest through the West Coast to Hawaii. This includes new redeye flights from Honolulu to Portland and San Francisco and Maui to Portland, facilitating interstate connections further east.
Alaska Airlines Group also announced that it will increase the utilization of its Hawaiian fleet, including increasing the utilization of Airbus A321 aircraft by 25% and increasing the utilization of Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
“This strategy allows us to expand our overall network coverage while mitigating the impact of Boeing 737 delivery delays,” the company said.
