Gellert Global Group, Elizabeth, New Jersey, is recalling 8.1-ounce packages of ALDI brand Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi & Tofu Kimbap because they may contain undeclared tuna.
People who are allergic or have a severe sensitivity to fish may be at risk of developing a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi & Tofu Kimbap was distributed to ALDI retail stores in Connecticut, Washington, DC, Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont and West Virginia.
This product is packaged in an 8.1 ounce sealed microwave safe plastic wrapper and is marked BEST IF USED BY DATE of OCT.08.2027.
To date, no illnesses related to this problem have been reported.
The recall was initiated after consumers discovered that products containing fish had been distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of fish. A subsequent investigation revealed that the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging procedures, which has since been corrected.
