Celtic have signed defender Alex Vale on a season-long loan from Barcelona.
The highly-rated 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Levante, signed a new contract with Barca before completing his move to the Scottish champions.
He is the third new signing to join Celtic this season after Kasper Schmeichel and Biljami Sinisalo, with Adam Ida and Paulo Bernardo both completing transfers after loan spells last season.
Hoops sold Matt O'Reilly to Brighton for a new Scottish transfer record this week, with manager Brendan Rodgers vowing to make more signings ahead of Friday's 11pm transfer deadline.
Vale, who made 29 appearances in Spain's second division last season, will be competing with Greg Taylor.
“I am very happy and it is a great opportunity to come to this historic club,” said Ballet.
“They gave me a lot of confidence to come here, and I will do my best to return that confidence.
“I’ve heard so many stories about what the fans and the stadium can be like, so I’m really looking forward to seeing it.
“The manager (Brendan Rodgers) gave me a lot of confidence to come here. He said he had seen a few games at Barca and Levante, so I am really happy to be here and looking forward to training with the team.
“I would say that this style of play is the best for my style and what I like. I learned this at the Barça academy, so I am looking forward to playing it.”
Rodgers added: “We are delighted to have Alex on loan this season as we strengthen our squad for next season.”
“His style of football will not only complement our attacking play, but also give our back line more options.
“Alex has grown up in a really high-quality football environment, learning all the good habits and skills associated with all the top teams. He is a player with tremendous attributes.
“He performed really well for Levante last season and is already part of the Barcelona first team this year, he is a welcome and quality addition to our squad.”
