Alycia Baumgardner retained her unified junior lightweight title with a unanimous decision over Bomi Shin, but she already has her sights set on Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
The American was the clear favorite against Shin and carried that confidence into the fight at the bell.
Shin fought back hard in rounds 6 and 7 to challenge Baumgardner, but it wasn’t an easy task as she couldn’t land as many as she threw.
Baumgardner won 98-92, 98-92, 99-91, but his five-year knockout drought continued despite posting an 18-1 record.
Baumgardner said after the fight, “Listen, 10 rounds, three minutes, don’t fuck with me on my period.”
“It’s comfortable. It’s an adjustment every time. 3 minutes is a long time, so I’m constantly learning and growing.”
“I don’t know everything and I’m okay with that. Just go back and keep getting better.”
However, Baumgardner is not one to shy away from a big fight as he has his eyes set on who he will do and who he will face.
“Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano, what’s going on?” she added, before dismissing Caroline Dubois despite the Brit calling her out.
“I’m a piranha. That’s (Caroline Dubois) a guppy. Get me out of here,” Baumgardner said.
If the fight with Taylor happens, it will happen soon, with talk of the Irishwoman’s farewell fight expected to take place in Croke Park.
Green was very upset and took out the stretcher.
The biggest upset of the night came when Lani Daniels won via ninth-round knockout over Shadasia Green, forcing the former IBF and WBO super middleweight champion to be carried off on a stretcher.
Green had landed hard punches in the previous eight rounds and seemed well on her way to victory, but by the end of the eighth round she appeared to be running on empty.
She reached the bell, but Daniels came out firing in the next round, landing consecutive strikes before referee Eric Dalo intervened at 0:32, giving Daniels a TKO victory to become the new IBF, WBO and Ring super middleweight champion and three-division world champion.
After barely escaping a corner and landing a series of hits, the former champion was immediately taken out on a stretcher after the fight ended, where he was seen wincing in pain and struggling to stand.
Green was taken to hospital for tests, and Daniels wished Green well in his post-match interview and thanked his global supporters.
