Amanda Serrano: ‘When I started, women didn’t have these opportunities. ‘We fought for recognition’ | boxing news

Serrano is a pioneering multi-weight world champion who competed against Katie Taylor over the course of the iconic trilogy.

She is working closely with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), who have launched a new series of women’s boxing events, MVPW, starting with a Caroline Dubois vs. Terri Harper and Ellie Scotney vs. Mayelli Flores doubleheader on Sunday, April 5. sky sports.

“When I started boxing, women didn’t have these opportunities. We were fighting for recognition, equal pay, and the opportunity to compete on the biggest stages,” Serrano said.

“MVP launching MVPW and putting together a card like four women’s world title fights in London shows how much the sport is evolving.

“The women competing on these cards are making history every time they step into the ring, and platforms like this help push women’s boxing where it belongs: at the top of the sport.”
