According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the Mac mini will be the next Apple device to say goodbye to USB-A.
Apple customers have probably gotten used to seeing the familiar rectangular USB-A port replaced by its thinner USB-C sibling. While USB-C has its advantages, the transition can sometimes leave users confused and scrambling to find adapters.
Meanwhile, the Mac mini hasn’t been significantly redesigned since 2010, but Gurman says that’s going to change this fall. The updated model will include Apple’s new M4 chip, as well as five USB-C ports, an Ethernet port, an HDMI connector, and a headphone jack. But it will lose the USB-A port.
Apple is scheduled to hold its “Glowtime” press conference on September 9, where the company is expected to announce the new iPhone 16. The new Mac lineup may not be announced until later in the fall.
