Applications close within 48 hours. Here’s everything Australian startups need to know about Stripe x Startup Battlefield.

The window is almost closed. On August 19, eight startups will take the stage at Stripe Tour Sydney in front of investors, global media and the Australian tech community. One startup automatically participated in TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco. No applications, no more competition, guaranteed a spot on the world’s most iconic startup stage.

There are 48 hours left until the application deadline. Don’t wait.

Here’s everything you need to know.

What is Stripe x Startup Battlefield?

Startup Battlefield is the flagship presentation competition from TechCrunch, the company that launched Dropbox, Cloudflare, Discord, and Trello. Collectively, Startup Battlefield alumni have raised $32 billion and created more than 250 exits for more than 1,700 companies around the world.

Stripe x Startup Battlefield is a first-of-its-kind partnership with Stripe, bringing the competition to Sydney for one night only. Eight Australian startups will be selected for live presentations. 3 people will receive a prize. One will go to San Francisco.

Final winner: $15,000 Stripe fee credit + automatic entry into Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, October 13-15, 2026.

2nd place: $5,000 in Stripe fee credit.

3rd place: $2,000 in Stripe fee credit.

All applicants, regardless of whether they are pitched or not, will be invited and registered for Stripe Tour Sydney on 19 August.

What we’re looking for and what won’t hold you back

We’re not looking for the most sophisticated company in Australia. We are looking for the most promising people. The question we ask for every application is simple: Does this change anything? Not gradually, but sincerely.

A few things that won’t disqualify you:

Some media coverage won’t hurt you. If your company has entered a region or industry, but your core technology is not yet mature, this is the purpose of this step.

We don’t need customers yet. You need a functioning MVP, but sales and launches are not requirements.

You have applied before. Many Startup Battlefield companies applied more than once before being selected. Past rejections are not a data point for your company’s future.

How to Build a Powerful Application

Show your product in action. It’s not a model. This is not a presentation material that includes screenshots. The actual MVP is shown on video in real time. Even if it’s rough. This is the most important part of your application.

Be honest about your competitors. Naming your competitors and specifically explaining why they won will tell you more about your market understanding than any TAM slide.

Please tell me why. The founding story – what you saw, why now, why you are the right person to build it – is a meaningful part of how we evaluate teams. Most startups buy into it. don’t do it

Don’t over-engineer. A clear, honest application that showcases the actual product performs better than a polished application that buries the company beneath it.

The deadline is July 20th. It doesn’t move.

Applications close at 11:59pm (AEST) on Monday 20 July 2026. There are no more extensions. There is no waiting list. Once closed, the only way to the stage is for the audience.

If you’re still deciding whether to apply — apply. The worst outcome is a stronger application next time. The best result is the San Francisco stage in October.

The next company that no one has heard of yet is building something important. It could be yours.
