As Brookfield commits $ 20B, investments in the French AI ecosystem reach $ 85B.

Canadian Investment Form Brookfield plans to invest 2 billion euros in AI projects in France by 2030 (about $ 20 billion at the current exchange rate). Most of the agreements are used to build AI -centered data centers.

This announcement is the latest investment promise of a series of investment agreements, as you can plan for a meeting for the artificial intelligence action summit held in Paris in Paris from Monday.

According to La Tribune Dimanche, the investment of about 15 billion euros, Brookfield, will head to a large data center in Cambrai in northern France. This data center has a capacity of up to 1 gigabyatt. The rest will be used for new infrastructure projects, including the construction of new electricity production functions.

Friday, France and the United Arab Emirates announced the AI campus project with a large amount of $ 50 billion ($ 5.2 billion). Once again, most investments go to a data center with a capacity of up to 1 gigab.

There are two reasons why this mega investment project occurs. First, on January 21, Openai, Softbank, MGX and other partners announced Stargate Project.

It is unclear that each investor is willing to promise to Stargate, but this announcement has been a morning call to many European policymakers combined with Mario Dragon’s recent European competitiveness.

Second, most of French electricity production comes from nuclear power plants (about 65%) and renewable sources (about 25%). It also produces more electricity than necessary. Technology companies are struggling to reduce carbon footprints and find sufficient electricity capacity, so they are looking for more and more attractive positions in the powerful data center.

Other promises of local companies

Separately, BPIFRANCE, a French public investment bank, plans to invest a billion euros ($ 1 billion) in the French AI ecosystem. BPIFRANCE is not a data center project because most of them want to sponsor AI startups and become a limited partner for VC companies. BPIFRANCE is already a shareholder of Mistral, H and POOLSIDE.

Lastly, ILIAD, a telecommunications company founded by the Billionaire Billionaire Xavier Niel, allocates 3 billion euros to AI Investments ($ 3.1 billion) with the help of financial partners such as Infravia. About 2.5 billion euros ($ 2.6 billion) will be used to build a new AI -centered data center with a capacity of hundreds of megawatts.

Scaleway, a cloud computing company headquartered in France, is a subsidiary of ILIAD. Therefore, new computing power will be provided through Scaleway. Some European AI companies have already used Scaleway to train AI models such as Mistral, H and Photoroom. (Interestingly, Xavier Niel is also an investor of Mistral and H..)

In addition to all these investment announcements, France will mainly receive an AI -related investment over the next few years in relation to data centers and infrastructure projects. There may be more announcements in the AI Action Summit in Paris.
