
In a statement posted on X:, Out – Formerly known as Twitter – the IDF confirmed it had struck the school building, and said it had taken “numerous steps to reduce the risk of harm to civilians,” including close aerial surveillance and additional intelligence.
Hamas militants reportedly used the site as a “safe haven” to launch attacks against IDF forces.
The report added that “Hamas systematically violates international law by using civilian structures and civilian populations as human shields for terrorist attacks against the State of Israel.”
Hamas described the attack as a “massacre of defenseless migrants.”
The group claimed via its English-language Telegram channel that most of the dead and injured were women, children and the elderly.
