At least 12 homes have been destroyed or damaged as bushfires sweep across Sydney’s northern coast, local authorities said.
A fire broke out in the town of Kolewong, New South Wales. Soaring temperatures are causing numerous wildfires to burn across the state.
“We didn’t even have time to think,” said one resident. “We lost everything, the only thing we had left was the clothes we were wearing.”
Aerial footage shows several homes burning as fire helicopters work to put out the blaze.
