Avianca has announced another new route to Venezuela.

Avianca is doubling its growth in Venezuela.

Colombia’s national airline has announced that it will launch a new daily non-stop route between Bogota and Maracaibo. This is another important step in the gradual reopening of air connections to Venezuela.

Tickets for the new service, which launches on August 28, are officially on sale now.

This is a notable moment as Venezuela continues to position itself for new commercial, tourism and business interactions with the rest of the region.

The new route will be operated daily on Airbus A320 aircraft, with 180 seats per flight, adding approximately 2,500 seats per week between the two countries.

This is in addition to Avianca’s existing service between Bogotá and Caracas, which currently operates twice daily.

“It is worth mentioning that Avianca has been connecting countries, stories, cultures and traditions for over 106 years and has always put safety first,” the airline said in a statement. “In Venezuela, this commitment continues for more than 60 years and is reflected in our strengthening role in strengthening the connections between our two countries.”

bigger gateway

The new Maracaibo service is more than just a city pair launch.

Avianca’s hub in Bogota gives passengers departing from Maracaibo direct access to Avianca’s global network, connecting it to more than 80 destinations across the Americas and Europe.

This marks a significant new gateway for travelers to Venezuela and a new route for visitors to the country’s second-largest city.

schedule

The new daily flights, operated by AV94 and AV95, will depart Bogota at 3:05 PM and arrive in Maracaibo at 5:40 PM. The return flight departs Maracaibo at 7pm and arrives back in Bogota at 9:25pm.

This work still requires government approval.

For Avianca, which has been operating in Venezuela for over 60 years, the new route is a clear signal that the airline sees long-term opportunities in the market and that the doors between Colombia and Venezuela will remain open.
