And now Avianca is making it even easier to get there from the West Coast.
The airline has launched new non-stop services including: San Francisco and Guatemala CityAdds another direct connection between California and one of Central America’s most attractive destinations.
The seasonal route begins this week and is scheduled to run until next month. August 31, 2026It operates four times a week via Airbus A320 aircraft.
California’s New Non-Stop Option
The new route will give Bay Area travelers direct access to Guatemala’s capital, eliminating the need to transfer on one of the region’s most important travel corridors.
Avianca said the service would operate four times a week, offering more than 1,400 seats per week between the two cities.
The launch is part of Avianca’s broader expansion as a domestic airline, currently operating more than 400 weekly flights to 14 destinations in the country.
Why Guatemala is having a moment
Avianca has positioned the route as part of the growing travel demand associated with major international events, including the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.
But Guatemala’s appeal goes beyond sports.

The San Francisco route is the latest addition to Avianca’s expanding U.S. network.
The airline carried more than 4.9 million passengers to and from the United States last year and has continued to invest in its North American operations. Additionally, the airline has completed the launch of its Business Class America product on eligible routes connecting destinations across the United States and Latin America.
For Northern California travelers, the new service opens another non-stop gateway to a destination that offers a very different kind of vacation than the traditional beach vacation.
