
IF Copack LLC, doing business as Initiative Foods, is recalling one lot of its “Tippy Toes” brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit purees due to high levels of patulin.
Patulin is a naturally occurring mycotoxin produced by mold that can grow on a variety of fruits, including apples. Long-term exposure from ingestion of patulin can cause a variety of adverse health effects, including potential immunosuppression, nerve damage, headaches, fever, and nausea.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date in connection with the recalled baby food.
The product was distributed nationally in retail grocery stores throughout the United States, except Alaska. The product may have been distributed to the U.S. territories of Guam and Puerto Rico.
The UPC number for this product is 036800265783. The lot number is Lot #07174. The “Best Before” date is marked on the bottom of each plastic container. The recalled products are stamped with the date “BB 07/17/2026.” The package is also marked with package code INIA0120.
The recalled products were sampled in accordance with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Total Diet Study, which found higher than normal levels of patulin in those products. Initiative Foods worked with the FDA to identify a single lot for recall due to health concerns identified in this notice.
This recall was conducted in accordance with FDA recommendations.
