The Chinese search engine BAIDU has launched Ernie 4.5 (Ernie 4.5), the latest version of the basic model of the company that was first released two years ago, and Ernie X1, a new reasoning model.
According to Reuters, Baiduer claims that the ENI X1’s performance is equivalent to the DEEPSEEK R1 in half of the price, and promotes Ernie 4.5’s “High EQ” to enable the model to understand memes and satire. Both models have multi -modal functions that can handle video, images and audio and text.
BAIDU was one of the first Chinese companies to start Openai’s CHATGPT competitors, but it was reported that he struggled to find a wide range of adoption. Meanwhile, DeepSeek, mentioned above, has recently made an unstable US AI company and investor by releasing strong models at much lower cost.
CNBC previously reported that BAIDU plans to launch the next -generation model ERNIE 5 later this year.
