Bangbang Shrimp Skewers are juicy grilled shrimp drizzled with a light, sweet and spicy Bangbang sauce with only 4 ingredients!

Grilled Shrimp with Bang Bang Sauce
Now that the weather is warmer we are grilling almost every evening. Bang Bang Shrimp Skewers are one of my favorite ways to cook shrimp in the summer because they’re quick, flavorful, and perfect for grilling season. Inspired by my popular Bang Bang Shrimp recipe, shrimp are skewered and grilled until lightly charred, then drizzled with a creamy, sweet and slightly spicy lightened Bang Bang sauce. They make an easy weeknight dinner, a fun appetizer for entertaining, or a great addition to rice bowls and tacos. Best of all, it cooks in minutes, making it ideal for busy nights when you want to feel special without putting in a lot of effort.

Because the sauce is so flavorful, the only seasoning the shrimp needs is pepper. See recipe card below for exact measurements.
- shrimp: Buy large shrimp, peel and devein them. Or better yet, buy them pre-prepared from the supermarket. You can also use frozen shrimp (thawed first), which are usually cheaper and easier to find.

How to make bang bang shrimp skewers
Apply bang bang sauce after the shrimp are cooked to prevent them from burning. See recipe card below for printable instructions.
- Make Bang Bang Sauce Mix 4 ingredients in a small bowl.
- Dip the skewers If using, place the tree in a jug of water or a large baking dish for at least 20 minutes.
- To make the skewers: Season the shrimp with pepper and place 5 shrimp on skewers.
- Grill the shrimp: Heat the grill to medium-high and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. The shrimp are done when they become opaque and form a “C” shape (not an “O”, which means overcooked).

- Shrimp allergy? Use Bang Bang sauce on shredded chicken thighs/breasts or scallops. You can skip the skewers and just spread the sauce on any type of fish.
- Make it spicier: Double the amount of sriracha, or reduce to ¼ teaspoon if you prefer a lower heat.
- Chives: If you don’t have chives, substitute chives.

Bang Bang shrimp sauce is made with mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and chives.
The easiest way to grill shrimp is on skewers. You can easily flip and serve the shrimp without them falling between the griddles. However, you should soak wooden skewers in water for at least 20 minutes before grilling to prevent the skewers (and your food) from burning. If you are using metal skewers, you can skip this step.
If you don’t have a grill, you can cook shrimp over medium heat on the stovetop using a grill pan or cast iron skillet. You can skip the skewers if you like. Turn the shrimp halfway through to ensure even cooking.
You can also cook shrimp in the oven at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes or air fry at 400°F for 5 to 6 minutes.
