Barcelona fired coach Xavi after three years.
The 44-year-old Spaniard is set to take charge of Barcelona's final game of the season against Sevilla on Sunday before leaving the club.
The decision to sack Xavi comes a month after Barcelona persuaded Xavi to stay on as manager after he had planned to leave at the end of the season.
Barcelona say they plan to make an announcement about Xavi's replacement in the coming days.
“FC Barcelona would like to thank Xavi for his hard work as a coach and for his outstanding career as a player and team captain,” the Catalan club said in a statement. “We wish him every success around the world in the future.”
