Barry Ferguson of Rangers said he saw ‘heart and desire’ when he made a dramatic comeback to overcome ‘Mind and Desire’ 4-2 at Rugby Park’s stadium.
Captain Eve Rocks, who won 15 trophy as a player, finished the whirlwind 48 hours after replacing Philip Clement by celebrating his travel fans by calling his name.
Ferguson is now demanding that his players will continue to fight after being hit by Joe Wright and Brad Lyons during the rest of the season.
SKY SPORTS, 47, said, “I will not be excessive excitement. But there are many things we need to improve and people know it.”
“They were under investigation, but they have their hearts and desires.
“I would not have worked if I hadn’t thought I could get something from them. They showed another side tonight.
“I will not be kicked out. It’s just one game. They are now at home, so you have to take it on Saturday.
“They have to learn how to deal with this situation. As they spend with them for the last 24 hours, I think they know the situation right now.”
Ferguson was defeated by St Miren 2-0, starting with the same start XI, and then struggling in Kilmarnock for 30 minutes and then connecting Clinton NSIALA.
Ferguson added, “When things don’t happen, you have to make difficult decisions during the game.”
“Clinton’s young man, he will recover, but I felt that we had to make a change at that stage and clearly worked for us.
“We started to control the game and probably took some rest.
“I thought we were a little tension, but their confidence was quite low, so be careful.
“I said they were playing in a great club, I had expectations and demands for you, and you thought I had to deal with it, and they thought they had dealt with it in the last 10-15 minutes and the second 45.”
What the expert said
Experts at SKY SPORTS discussed Ferguson’s debut at Rangers Dugout.
Former Rangers Captain Stephen Davis:
“It’s absolutely good. I think he was really disappointed in the first 30 minutes (Ferguson), but after that, there was a big response from the team.
“They are absolutely pleased to win victory. It is not easy to come out of the two goals of Kilmarnock, so I will go home as a happy person.”
Former Rangers forward Chris Boyd:
“After 30 minutes, I think you think, ‘Where will this go?’ And suddenly, it turned out that it was the same problem as the Rangers faced throughout the season.
“Barry Ferguson clearly replaces, brings Yilmaz, moves a few players, and then hits the players who have seen a good goal just before the half time.
“In the second half, they are completely dominated and you can be satisfied with the performance in 30 minutes, but the same question will still be requested. Rangers are very vulnerable in set play.”
Former Scotland Striker James McPaden:
“He re -connected with supporters, tried to recover, and lifted the entire atmosphere. The way the game was actually panning was probably not better from two goals.
“As long as you don’t want to come from two goals, these fans definitely enjoyed it.
“We have long talked about the time to work with the players for Barry Ferguson’s coaching staff, and Barry talked about how to want his team game, and the ultimate goal from him is to win the game.”
