
Concerns have grown in Lebanon this year as tensions between the United States and Iran have risen and President Donald Trump has deployed what he described as a “fleet” to the Middle East, threatening to attack Iran. For decades, Tehran has invested billions of dollars in Hezbollah as part of a proxy alliance in the Middle East called the “Axis of Resistance.” The Lebanese government warned Hezbollah not to intervene after Iran declared it would turn any attack into a regional conflict. The group reportedly reassured authorities that it would not intervene. But eventually, pressure from sponsors forced it to do so.
