The BBC’s Russia editor Steve Rosenberg has disputed whether President Vladimir Putin “looked after” Russia during his 25-year rule.
At the president’s annual year-end news conference, Rosenberg reminded Putin that his predecessor, Boris Yeltsin, had told him to take good care of the country when he handed over power.
In response, President Putin said that Russia had “restored its sovereignty.”
