Ben Stokes has been ruled out for the remainder of the Durham County Championship match against Northamptonshire in a clear indication that he will return to the England Test squad.
The all-rounder has been ruled out of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand following an investigation into the incident that occurred at a London nightclub.
Following England’s win in the first Test at Lord’s, Stokes and team-mate Gus Atkinson reportedly breached the team’s midnight curfew in the early hours of Monday morning and were at the scene of an incident involving England security staff and a Saracens player.
But Stokes has since played for his county side, Durham, and scored just five runs short of a century on Saturday.
The ECB is yet to confirm its decision regarding Stokes.
