Social network BlueSky said on Monday that its platform now has more than 10 million users. This is thanks to the network’s rapid growth over the past few weeks. After Elon Musk’s X closed its doors in Brazil.
“If you’re reading this, you’re one of Bluesky’s first 10 million users!” the company said in a post. Bluesky also has a fun Easter egg on its homepage: Click on the celebratory emoji and you’ll now see your signup number on the platform, which you can then share with your friends.

Last month, the Supreme Court banned X in Brazil and fined users who used VPNs to access the service. Since then, other social networks such as Meta’s Threads and Bluesky have skyrocketed in popularity. Currently, they are in the top 10 of the App Store and Play Store ratings in the social media category in Brazil.
Bluesky quickly gained 3 million users within days of X being banned in Brazil, and passed 9 million overall earlier this month. The company says more than 85% of its new users are from Brazil.
Last week, Bluesky reported record activity on its platform since the influx of new users. Due to the large number of people signing up, the platform experienced several server errors, causing users to see an error message saying “Insufficient resources”. Even after these hardships, social networks have regained their stability.
Additionally, Bluesky has finally added the following features: Last week, we enabled users to post videos to the app. We also rolled out self-review tools, such as controlling who can quote your posts, hiding replies, and setting mute words with a time limit.
Bluesky, which had been in invitation-only mode for nearly a year, opened its platform to all users in February. Meanwhile, Bluesky’s Meta-owned competitor Threads has grown to over 200 million users.
