ReutersAccording to the official preliminary results, Bolivia will elect a non -powerful President after almost 20 years of continuous rule by the incumbent socialist party.
Senator Rodrigo Paz Perry and Senator Jorge Quiroga ranked first and second in the Sunday presidential election, respectively.
The voting between these two candidates will be held in October because it did not have enough stake in the vote to secure a completely victory.
The Christian Democratic Party’s Paz Pereira was an amazing voting leader after the poll was proposed by the businessman Samuel Doria Medina.
The election authorities said it could take up to three days to finish the results.
The campaign of Paz Pereira focused on redistributing more funds and fighting corruption from the central government to local organizations.
He suggested to remove accessible credit programs, tax reductions to increase the official economy, and to remove import barriers of imports that Bolivia did not manufacture.
QUIROGA was a brief presidency after serving as vice president of HUGO BANZER, a military dictator from 2001-2002 to later.
Outside the left camp, the president’s election will change rapidly the foreign policy of the Latin America.
In terms of trade, the two candidate capitalist positions can provide more support for foreign investment in Bolivia’s vast lithium reserves.
Politically, the government’s change was close to the United States for 20 years after strengthening the ties of Bolivia, China, Russia and Iran.
Recently, the US parliamentary report briefing described the US-Bolivia relationship as “nervous” under the governance of the Socialist Party.
ReutersFuel, foreign reserve and some foods and high inflation and liabilities lead to the worst economic crisis for several years.
Prior to the election, many voters suggested that they would like to vote for change or punish the current Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) party.
The current president, Luis Arce, was deepening.
Punishment of the left is physical not only in elections but also in physical cases.
MAS candidate Eduardo del Castillo voted out of school. Bolivia Media told him to “stand in line for fuel” instead of skipping the voting queue.
People also threw stones from Andrónico Rodrígez, the highest left candidate. Rodríguez was a MAS member before splitting at the party.
Bolivia’s authorities also said that the explosive devices began at a polling place where Rodriguez voted. There was no report on significant damage or injuries.
Rodríguez described it in the Bolivian newspaper as an “isolated event” adjusted by “small group”.
The left has not faced the popularity of the economy recently. It is also deeply divided.
AFP through Getty ImagesFor the first time in about 20 years, the former president, EVO Morales, did not participate in the voting.
Morales has ruled this country since 2006-2019 and has banned running again despite attempts to challenge legal and constitutional rulings.
He urged supporters to invalidate voting.
Rodríguez was once considered a disciple of Morales, but far from him.
The last election in 2019 was controversial and the protest exploded. Morales was charged with fraud after the auditor discovered irregularity in the poll and resigned by the pressure of the military.
In 2020, Luis Arce, former financial minister of Morales, took office as president. Morales then returned to Bolivia’s politics and deprived the majority and paired with rivals in the allies.
Since then, there has been a deep crack and power struggle at the MAS party. Morales’ supporters had protests and obstacles against the re -election order imposed on him, and sometimes some emergency respondents were killed.
The judge ordered a warrant for arrest against Morales on the sexual relationship and rape of a 15 -year -old girl. He politically motivated him.
He has lived and operated in Chapare in Bolivia and was sometimes protected by his supporters.
