Brave integrates its search results with the Leo AI assistant.

Brave, a privacy-focused search engine and web browser company, is integrating search results into its Leo chatbot. Search results are based on the Brave Search API and Leo is integrated into the company's browser. The company said this integration will help users find more up-to-date information.

People can use this integration to pull information like the latest scores, get more context around a topic while reading an article, and search for recent and related topics to create social media posts.

Brave emphasized that the integration is privacy-oriented as the company does not require users to log in. Additionally, we do not store your conversations with the AI chatbot on our servers. Brave said it doesn't use the responses to train its model. The company added that it first sends requests to an anonymization server to hide the user's identity.

You can also purchase Leo Premium for $14.99 per month, which gives you access to higher rate limits and the latest models. The company said it issues unlinkable tokens when purchasing a subscription to prevent personal identification.

Brave has been trying to build out AI capabilities to attract more users to its browser and search engine. The company last year launched AI-powered summaries for its search products to show users the gist of answers to their queries. Additionally, Leo AI Assistant will be available to anyone in November 2023. Last April, the company introduced an AI answers engine that searches to answer users' questions.

Other browsers such as Edge, Opera, Arc, and SigmaOS have integrated AI to varying degrees. Brave will likely try to improve its product by taking advantage of having both a browser and a search stack.
