British GP prediction: Sky Sports F1 picks Silverstone winner among George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen | F1 News

Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Sky Sports F1 predicts who will win at Silverstone on Sunday.

For the first time ever, three Britons took the top three grid slots at Silverstone, with George Russell taking pole position ahead of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton and McLaren's Lando Norris.

The crowd will naturally be hoping for a British victory, but with world championship leader Max Verstappen tipping the scales in fourth place and Norris' McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri a possible fifth, victory is far from assured.

With the conditions changing all weekend, it's unclear which team will have the fastest car, making this race set to be one of the most unpredictable in F1 for a long time.

Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and fans celebrate England's penalty shootout win over Switzerland to secure a place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

With the unusual weather expected to continue, there is a chance that a true classic will be unfolding at the famous circuit.

With such an attractive prospect before our eyes, Sky Sports F1 The team shared their predictions for Sunday's match following the qualifiers.

Karun Chandhok, Sky Sports F1 expert

Winner: George Russell

I think he's in really good form and I think Mercedes are really good for this circuit. He's driving really well and I have a feeling he can beat the other three. But I would say Verstappen in fourth is probably the biggest threat.

Ted Kravitz, Sky Sports F1 pit lane reporter

Winner: Max Verstappen

I think George will start first. Max will come out with his repaired car and fight Lando and Lewis. I think the rain will stop and Russell and Verstappen will fight, and Max will win. At the finish line, Max, Lando and George will win.

Naomi Schiff, Sky Sports F1 expert

Winner: Lewis Hamilton

The good news is that every Briton has a chance of winning, but if I had to put my money on someone, it would be Lewis Hamilton. What we really want to see is a sixth other winner this season, and he could be the driving force to make that happen.

Simon Lazenby, Sky Sports F1 presenter

Winner: Max Verstappen

I think Verstappen will win because the floor was damaged in qualifying. The fans are hoping for a British winner, but Max is on a mission and I think he will be very fast once the floor is fixed. I haven't seen his real pace yet.

George Russell says taking pole position at his home Grand Prix was the 'best feeling' he's had since qualifying.

Craig Slater, Sky Sports News Reporter

Winner: Lando Norris

Lando and Verstappen are currently the two best in terms of form and speed over the race distance and will eventually take the lead. Mercedes cars can lead for a while but Mercedes are not yet able to compete under these favorable conditions over the race distance. I think Lewis will beat George for the final podium spot.

Nigel Chiu, Sky Sports F1 Digital Journalist

Winner: Lando Norris

Lando Norris was great all Friday and I think McLaren will have the pace advantage over Mercedes. Norris should leave Verstappen behind at the start and then use his pace and strategy to beat the two Mercedes cars. If the rain comes, I think Norris will show his class and make up for his close race in Canada.

Lando Norris expects Mercedes to be the main contender for pole position and has revealed he will be battling them for third place tomorrow.

James Galloway, Sky Sports F1 Digital Journalist

Winner: Lewis Hamilton

If there is to be at least one more big day in the glittering Lewis Hamilton-Mercedes story, it will probably be this Sunday at Silverstone. He missed out on a record eighth home pole to his teammate, but Hamilton, who started on the front row, is still in a very convenient position.

His qualifying may have been disappointing for most of his last Mercedes campaign so far, but race day has still usually been a little more fruitful. Of course, no one knows how to win at Silverstone better than Hamilton, and as his streak of ten consecutive podiums shows, he tends to find a way on home soil.

Sam Johnston, Sky Sports F1 Digital Journalist

Winner: Lando Norris

Lando Norris and his McLaren team have been oozing confidence all weekend, despite a qualifying mistake that cost them pole position on Saturday. He and the team will have to show they have learned from the moments that cost them victory in recent races, but if the race is clean, I think Papaya Carr will have the pace to pass both Silver Arrows.
