Sky Sports took home three awards at the 2024 Broadcast Sport Awards, while Real Talk was named best podcast of the year.
Hosted by Miriam Walker-Khan, the six-part series explores health and wellbeing topics experienced by athletes across the world of sport.
Sky Sports also won Broadcast Sports TV Moment of the Year for its coverage of teenage sensation Luke Littler becoming the youngest World Darts Championship finalist.
The award for best visual storytelling using data and insights went to Sky Sports F1 for its Ghost Car feature, which was used to compare the performance of different drivers.
The Real Talk podcast, launched in March and April, covers lesser-discussed sports topics including obsessive-compulsive disorder, pelvic floor health, motherhood and retirement.
Littler shocked the sporting world earlier this year by reaching the final at Alexandra Palace as a 16-year-old, and recorded a historic moment with a commanding semi-final win over former champion Rob Cross.
Although he lost to Luke Humphreys in a spectacular final, his run to the final will go down in darts lore and attract a huge new audience to the sport.
Sky Sports F1 has long used side-by-side clips of rivals’ qualifying laps to analyze where the times are, but in 2024 it could use a ghost car feature to enhance the viewer experience.
Ghost Cars, which required no split screen, allowed viewers to see how pole position battles play out in incredible detail.
Sky Sports F1 Karun Chandhok said: “The fantastic team at Sky pushes us to innovate, do new things and use the studio in creative ways. This is great recognition for the whole team.”
Other winners of the night included Michael Johnson and Gabby Logan, who were named Pundit of the Year and Presenter of the Year respectively for their work at the BBC. The BBC’s coverage of the Women’s FA Cup final won the Sports Production of the Year award.
Sky Sports+ has officially launched and will be integrated into Sky TV, streaming service NOW and the Sky Sports app. This will give Sky Sports customers access to over 50% more live sport at no additional cost this year. Find out more here.
