Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says it will be “impossible” to replace Bruno Fernandes after he struggles with a muscle injury.
Fernandes was ruled out of the weekend’s game against Aston Villa and Amorim has not set a timetable for his return, but confirmed the midfielder will not feature against Newcastle on Boxing Day Live. Sky Sports.
Amorim hopes Fernandes’ absence will give other players the opportunity to lead the team and take on midfield positions.

“It is impossible to replace Bruno,” the manager said in his pre-match press conference. “But I told the team this morning that if there is good, we have to take the good and a lot of people need to step up.
“It’s not just creation. Every set piece, he’s the guy who builds the team. This is a great opportunity for everyone to step up and realize that we can’t rely on one player to do everything.

Ruben Amorim believes Bruno Fernandes has suffered a soft tissue injury and feels the Manchester United captain will be out for some time.
“Sometimes we rely on Bruno for organization and creativity. This is huge for the team because we lost Bruno, Brian (Mbemo) and Ahmad from set-pieces.
“This is a great opportunity for Lucha (Lissandro Martinez), Luke Shaw and others to all step up and have more leaders in the group.”

On who would replace Fernandes in Manchester United’s midfield, Amorim added: “We have different players, maybe we need to look at different ways of playing.
“I think Jack Fletcher played very well (against Aston Villa), so when we get this opportunity we have to give space to Jack and other players. We will find a solution to play.”
“I am confident that we can win any game. There are problems, but I believe in the team even though we don’t have many players now. It’s more difficult, but I believe in the players. If we really focus on the game, we can win.”

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has revealed he is hurt and saddened by the prospect of Manchester United selling him in the summer.
Amorim’s comments about Fernandes come almost a week after the midfielder claimed Manchester United managers wanted to bring him in in the summer but lacked the courage to go against their word.

In an exclusive interview sky sports Ahead of the Boxing Day clash with Newcastle, Amorim says he is a ‘different’ and ‘better’ manager than a year ago. The Manchester United manager added that he would also do many things differently and that he has learned a lot since joining the club.
“I want to go back to last year,” he said. “At this moment we are going through a lot of pain and I would do things very differently.”
“I have learned more as a coach this year than the other five. I will do a lot of things in a different way, not only in everything, but also on the pitch and in the way we play.
“No matter what happens in the future, I learned a lot and became a different manager.
“It’s hard to pinpoint one thing, but considering all the values I had in the squad last year, it may not have always been the right choice. Watching last season’s games helped me understand several things.
“I’m a different coach today. I’ll probably be doing 75 percent different things, but the important thing, the boundaries, will be the same. I feel like I’m a better coach now.”
