The boss Graeme Lowdon of the Cadillac F1 said the team said he would choose only the US drivers after narrowing the list of candidates ahead of the 2026 debut season.
The General Motors support item is scheduled to join the grid as the 11th F1 team next year, but has not yet decided the driver lineup.
The team principal said that Cadillac has a “pretty good idea” about someone who wants to sign.
“We have narrowed it quite a bit. But we are not currently synchronized with other teams.” Sky Sports F1.
“We have been effectively maintained in the last driver discussion because we have no items, so we are in a slightly unusual position, but it also means that it can also be much less competitive and may take some time.
“Obviously, as a team, the priority for us is to have something for the driver to drive, and it is a place where many management bandwidths are concentrated.”
Sergio Perez fell from Red Bull at the end of last season and is expected to be one of the candidates for the team after a year.
Similarly, VALTTERI BOTTAS is a preliminary driver of Mercedes after the dismissal of Sauber. Both drivers will provide Cadillac experience, which is important to new teams.
Considering that the main factor in the team’s sports is the ability to grow the popularity of the F1 in the United States, they are expected to sign at least one American driver in their debut campaign.
Indycar star Colton Herta will be connected to F1 seats three years ago and will be the most obvious American to join Cadillac. But Lowdon will not be selected from nationality.
“I think everyone wants to see an American driver of an American team with an American engine,” he said.
“But this is also a world championship. We have to choose everyone as a contribution, and as mentioned earlier, there is nothing to prevent girls or boys driving a US passport for the US Formula 1 team.
“We will choose a merit. When the driver is an American, fans really like it, but this is a world championship, so we must respect it, and we want to have as much as possible. So we choose all of the teams.”
Is Cadillac in the race for the time to prepare in 2026?
Automotive General Motors and US group TWG Global formed a Cadillac entrance, and Dan Towris, CEO of TWG Motors Sports, said it would be a “challenge” to prepare for the 2026 season.
Lowdon said, despite the fact that the team is building a new US manufacturing base in Indiana, “the race of time is dramatic.”
Lowdon said, “As everyone knows, we will tune to the first Grand Prix next year, and we must be there. We can’t get up a week and race behind others,” Lowdon said.
“So we have a deadline. The team has a countdown clock in all the garages that I know on the TV monitor, and it shows when the session starts, and is calculated in all the rooms of 2026 in every room of various factories.
“So there’s a few days there, and it’s a reminder of everyone who tends to accelerate time when fighting hard things. So it’s a good thing to remind everyone. We are still racing in the factory without racing in the game.”
