Campbell Soup Co. is selling its Pop Secret popcorn brand to an independent food company for an undisclosed amount as the CPG giant focuses on its snack portfolio.
The brand was acquired by Our Home, which makes products like Popchips, RW Garcia, and Sonoma Creamery. Both Our Home and Campbell Soup are headquartered in New Jersey.
According to Campbell Soup, Pop Secret generated net sales of approximately $120 million in fiscal 2024.
“This is another step in our journey to strategically focus our snack portfolio,” Campbell Snacks President Chris Foley said in a statement. “The sale of Pop Secret will result in greater focus and accelerated growth across our snack business and portfolio of leading brands.”
Like other food companies, Campbell Soup has been adding and subtracting from its portfolio in recent years to prioritize growth and strengthen its position in categories such as snacks and premium items. In March, it acquired Rao’s pasta sauce parent company Sovos Brands for $2.7 billion. And in 2023, it sold its emerald nuts business to private-label food maker Flagstone Foods.
Emerald and Pop Secret were added to Campbell's following its 2018 acquisition of Snyders-Lance.
Aaron Greenwald, founder and CEO of Our Home, said Pop Secret’s widespread consumer and brand awareness, combined with “our extensive manufacturing capabilities, creates a unique platform for growth and innovation in the marketplace.”
As part of the Sovos acquisition, Campbell Soup also added Noosa yogurt to its portfolio. The soup and snack maker said it plans to evaluate strategic alternatives for its dairy brands when the deal closes.
