Scotland's Robert McIntyre is tied for the lead at the halfway mark of the Canadian Open after Rory McIlroy's disappointing result on Friday.
MacIntyre followed up Thursday's 64 with a 66 for a 10-under overall score and the lead at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, while New Zealand's Ryan Fox shot a 6-under 70 in the second round to equal the overall score.
The so far bogey-free Ryder Cup winner currently does not have a regular caddy and his father is flying out to have him this Sunday.
“We were walking toward the end and he said, ‘I think we should start negotiating wages this week,’” MacIntyre said in a post-round interview.
“It's a good experience for both of us. He's done a good job so far. It's been good for both of us. It's taken my mind off golf.”
“After the news last week (of Grayson Murray's death), things have become a lot bigger than golf. We're human and I'm leaving my dad in the bag and trying to enjoy it as much as I can.” Because we don't know how much longer it is.
“I had no expectations at all because there was a lot going on this week. I came here and tried to bag my dad and play smart golf and miss on the right and I have done that so far.
“There were shots everywhere I missed and opportunities to get up and down. I played solidly enough the first two days and am happy. I’m just trying to get into position for the weekend.” “

The left-hander sank a 12-foot birdie putt at the first and added another after reaching the par-5 fourth hole in two strokes.
His sharp approach play on the back nine led to two more birdies after he hit it to 7 feet on the short par-4 12th and he got even closer on the 422-yard 15th.
McIntyre was unable to take advantage of the par-5 17th hole after jumping out of a fairway bunker, but went up and down towards par at the end.
Further back, McIlroy fell to a tie for 30th after a disappointing second round of 72, 2 over par.
McIlroy, who tied for 12th at the PGA Championship, recorded just one birdie Friday and is eight strokes behind the leader.
