Carlos Alcaraz has advanced to the final of the China Open after a win over Daniil Medvedev and set up a potential date with world number one Jannik Sinner.
The Spaniard secured his third successive win over Medvedev this year, 7-5 6-3, to reach his fifth final of 2024.
Alcaraz faced top seed Sinner or home wildcard Yunchaokete Bu in the championship match in the Chinese capital.

Medvedev and Alcaraz put together an incredible rally that included drop shots, tweeners and the Spaniard coming out on top with the win.
The current French Open and Wimbledon champion won a chaotic first set that included five breaks of serve and took 88 minutes to outlast Medvedev in the second set.
“I’m really happy that I didn’t lose focus for too long in the first set,” Alcaraz said. “I recovered as soon as I broke it, and I’m really happy that I played some really good tennis on my comeback at the end of the set and was able to serve at 6-5. I played a really good game.” .
