Cayman Airways is adding additional flights to one of the Caribbean Basin’s most underrated vacation destinations this summer.

The rainforest begins where the city ends. Rivers flow from emerald mountains, ferries head to the Bay Islands, and the Caribbean Sea stretches towards Roatán.

This summer, taking an underrated vacation to Grand Cayman just got a little easier.

Cayman Airways is adding three additional non-stop flights between Grand Cayman and La Ceiba, Honduras. July 17th, July 24th, August 7th. The added flights complement the airline’s regular Wednesday schedule, providing more opportunities to plan a summer vacation or connect with one of the Caribbean Basin’s most attractive destinations.

The Adventure Capital of the Caribbean

La Ceiba isn’t usually the first name that comes to mind when people think of a Caribbean vacation. Perhaps it should be so.

The city is the gateway to Pico Bonito National Park, one of Central America’s stunning tropical landscapes. Dense rainforest covers the mountains above the city, filled with waterfalls, hiking trails and unique birdlife. In a matter of minutes, you can transform the coastline into a rushing river and lush jungle.

Back on the coast, La Ceiba has a distinct Caribbean rhythm. The waterfront is lined with seafood restaurants, fishing boats launch every morning, and the city remains one of Honduras’ cultural hubs, especially during its famous Carnaval festival.

Perhaps most importantly, La Ceiba is also the main starting point for the Bay Islands. Ferries connect the mainland with Roatán and Utila, making it easy to combine mainland adventures with some of the Caribbean’s best diving and snorkeling.

Different ways to get there

The additional summer flights reflect increased demand on one of Cayman Airways’ most unique regional routes.

Instead of only running on Wednesdays, travelers will now have three additional departures on Fridays during the summer peak, giving them more flexibility for both long weekends and extended holidays.

The route has quietly become an important bridge between Grand Cayman and northern Honduras, linking the two destinations with a deep Caribbean connection separated by nearly 440 miles of ocean.

Why it matters

Most Caribbean airlines focus on the region’s largest tourism market.

Routes like Grand Cayman-La Ceiba tell a different story.

It connects nearby destinations, makes international Caribbean vacations easier, and opens doors to places many travelers have yet to experience.

For those looking beyond the Caribbean’s classic beach resorts, La Ceiba offers something refreshingly different: rainforest adventures in the morning, Caribbean seafood in the afternoon, and easy access to the Bay Islands whenever you’re ready to head to your next destination.

With three additional flights scheduled for this summer, discovering one of the Caribbean Basin’s most underrated gateways has never been easier.

A growing local network

La Ceiba is just one part of the growing Cayman Airways network in Grand Cayman. Within the Cayman Islands, the airline provides essential services to Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, connecting all three islands with several daily flights. Internationally, Cayman Airways connects Grand Cayman with destinations such as Miami, Tampa, Los Angeles, Denver and Austin in the United States.

Along with Kingston and Montego Bay in Jamaica, Panama City, Havana and La Ceiba. The network is increasingly focused on strengthening Caribbean regional connections and non-stop connections to key North American markets, giving you more options whether you’re planning a beach vacation, island hopping itinerary, or deeper connections into the Caribbean Basin.
