Nelly Korda captured her third major title with a dominant wire-to-wire victory Sunday at the Chevron Championship at Memorial Park Golf Course, beating Ruoning Yin and Patty Tavatanakit by five strokes.
The 27-year-old finished the week at 18 under par after a strong performance in all four rounds, and has now surpassed No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings, Jeeno Thitikul.
This was her dominance. Korda tied his record-low 54-hole score in Sunday’s final round and led the field by five strokes.
“It was a tough weekend,” Korda said. “Honestly, it’s not easy to have such a big lead. It was one of the hardest things mentally.
“I have an amazing support system. I have an amazing family right behind me. I have an amazing caddy on my bag. And I’m really excited to get it done.”
She started strong, scoring 2 under par through the first three holes as Yin and Tavatanakit attempted to take the American lead.
Korda appeared to struggle to make putts at the weekend and the American admitted she returned to the practice green after the third round to work on her short game.
The same problem appeared on Sunday, as Korda missed a birdie putt on the second hole and again on the par-5 eighth hole.
She two-putted for bogey on the par-4 12th hole, giving In and Patty Tabatanakit a small glimmer of hope.
But the undeterred Korda showed her composure, bouncing back with a pair of birdies on the 13th and 14th to move to 19 under par and tie Dottie Pepper’s record low of 269.
A birdie on the 17th hole would erase that record, but the American didn’t care. The American smiled as he walked briskly toward his tee shot on the final hole.
Then, on the 18th, Korda found the green with a brilliant approach and boldly made a long par putt to win.
“Honestly, what I said to myself was, ‘I really want to lift this trophy because I want to show my kids at home that you can win a major championship even if you miss a short putt,’” Korda said.
“‘You’re going to do it. You’re going to make mistakes, but you still have to be 100 percent.’
“That’s what I really wanted to show, to everyone who looks up to me.”
This is Korda’s second LPGA Tour win this season, after getting off to a good start to 2026 by winning the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions last January.
Thailand’s Tavatanakit started the day at 11 under par, five shots behind Korda, and fought hard to close the gap between her and the American, but ultimately finished the day at 3 under par.
England’s Charley Hull was in the top 10 after 15 holes, but bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes meant he ended the day tied for 10th on the leaderboard.
