Chimpanzees are the main attraction at the new Volcanoes Safaris lodge in Uganda: Travel Weekly

Volcanoes Safaris, a pioneer in gorilla and chimpanzee ecotourism in Uganda and Rwanda, has revealed plans for a new luxury lodge set to open in May.

Kibale Lodge is strategically located to offer travelers a chimpanzee trekking experience in Uganda's Kibale National Park. Known as one of Africa's best destinations for chimpanzee viewing, the lodge promises to be a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and luxury travelers alike.

The lodge features 8 deluxe rooms. Amenities such as a spa, sauna, and swimming pool enhance the guest experience. Initial plans include three deluxe releases. band (African Hut) Until May; Five additional units are expected to be ready by the end of this year.

The lodge boasts views of the Queen Elizabeth Plain and Kazinga Strait as well as the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the “Mountain of the Moon”. Kibale Lodge is conveniently located just an hour's drive from Fort Portal village and Kasese airstrip. The lodge is also less than 30 minutes' drive from Kibale Forest, a prime location for chimpanzee tracking.

Kibale Lodge rates start at $1,200 per person per night, which includes meals, a selection of beverages including premium wines and whiskeys, laundry services, spa and massage treatments, and lodge activities. There will also be a community fee of $50 per person per night to support Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust. Since 2009, this non-profit organization has played a key role in implementing sustainable projects that benefit local communities and conservation efforts and reduce human-wildlife conflict.

The Trust, in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute Uganda, will embark on a community-based conservation project in Kibale Forest, inspired by the successful initiative of Kyambura Gorge Lodge. Guests of Kibale Lodge will have the opportunity to get involved in these projects, take part in walking safaris and visit local farms.

Reservations for Kibale Lodge will open in early 2024. As a first offer, guests who combine gorilla trekking and accommodation at Bwindi or Mount Gahinga Lodge can avail a five-night package for the price of four nights.
