Chinese authorities have fined seven e-commerce platforms for alleged violations including food safety.

The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) has imposed fines over a series of ‘ghost kitchen’ food delivery incidents.

Based on China’s food safety and e-commerce laws, SAMR ordered the platform to correct its illegal practices, suspended the addition of new stores for three to nine months, and imposed fines and confiscations totaling 3.6 billion yuan (USD 530 million).
