World number one Iga Sviatek came from one set down to beat future star Mira Andreeva, 17, in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open.
Swatek lost the opener 6-4 after being broken in the first service game, and the Polish native missed four break back opportunities, two of which came when Andreeva was serving for the set.
But Andreeva was broken right at the start of the second set, allowing Swatek to equalize the score and advance to the final.
With the match tied at 5-5 in the final set, Sviatek earned a decisive break.
But Andreeva came back and had a break point chance in the very next game that could have led to a decisive tiebreaker, but Sviatek held firm and came back to win by three points.
The five-time Grand Slam winner will next face the soon-to-be world number two. Arina Sabalenka She won comfortably 6-3 6-2 against Lyudmila Samsonova in the semifinals.
Sabalenka was seeded third in the tournament, but after a disappointing second-round exit, she finished ahead of defending champion Coco Gauff of Cincinnati in the women's event.
