I’ve been researching and using tallow more in recent years, and it turns out that many of you have too. My whipped resin balm is a fan favorite because it feels so soft on the skin. One of the most common questions I get asked is how to add honey to recipes. This Honey Tallow Balm does just that.
We’ve also added other ingredients that are great for clearing your skin and reducing blemishes.
When it comes to skincare, I’ve found that sometimes the simplest ingredients are the most effective. There are tons of products designed to remove blemishes and achieve clearer skin, but many of them can be irritating, drying, or full of ingredients you don’t want to use. Traditional materials that have been used for generations are worth accessing.
Honey Tallow Balm Ingredients
This honey tallow balm combines multiple skin-loving ingredients into one simple formula. It nourishes the skin barrier while providing clearer skin. Rather than stripping your skin or forcing it to conform, this balm focuses on giving your skin what it needs. Tallow Honey Balm not only hydrates, but also provides beneficial compounds to your skin to help it function as intended.
tallow
One of the main ingredients of this chestnut is grass-fed beef tallow. Tallow has a unique fatty acid profile that is very similar to our skin’s natural oils. This means it absorbs directly into the skin and helps restore its natural moisture barrier.
raw honey
This is another popular ingredient with a long history in natural skincare. Honey is rich in beneficial compounds that keep your skin healthy and smooth. It also acts as a humectant, attracting and retaining moisture. This is especially helpful for irritated, dry or imbalanced skin. I also love raw honey for acne and blemishes because it is naturally antibacterial.
wax
Beeswax thickens the balm and helps create a breathable protective layer on the skin. Some creams use petroleum jelly as an occlusive to trap moisture. However, it does not nourish the skin and may leave it feeling heavy or oily. Rather than completely sealing the skin, beeswax traps moisture and helps the skin breathe.
taman oil
My classic tallow balm recipe uses olive oil as the carrier oil. Rich in healthy fats and anti-inflammatory omega-3s. For this version, I chose tamanu oil.
Skincare experts explain how tamanu helps skin heal and repair. It is often used in products to improve the appearance of blemishes or damaged skin. Studies have shown that it may help improve the marks caused by acne damage while reducing redness and inflammation. This is one of my favorite oils to use in skincare for skin prone to damage or blemishes.
essential oil
This is optional, but it really helps add more benefits to your skin. Plus they can add a nice scent. I love using tea tree essential oil on blemish-prone or acne-prone skin. It is an effective yet gentle antifungal agent and is known for its skin purifying properties.
Sweet or wild oranges are another favorite. It has a bright, pleasant scent and helps improve the appearance of your skin. Lavender, geranium, frankincense, and cedar are also good choices for your skin.
Benefits of Honey Tallow Balm
Anything that can address multiple skin care concerns simultaneously is a win in my book. Honey Tallow Balm supports overall skin health instead of focusing solely on blemishes.
Many people unknowingly damage their skin barrier through over-cleansing, harsh treatments, and excessive exfoliation. A damaged skin barrier can sometimes lead to more irritation, dryness, and rashes. Ingredients such as tallow, honey, and tamanu oil help nourish and support the skin while maintaining moisture balance.
This balm helps calm redness, promote healing of blemishes, and keep skin soft and hydrated. It contains nutrient-rich fat and is good for rough, dry and irritated skin. Overall, Honey Tallow Balm helps balance the skin.
How to Use Honey Tallow Balm
This balm has a bit of an effect. I like to apply a small amount onto clean skin and spread a thin layer over my face. If using as part of your skincare routine, use after cleansing and toning. Body heat softens the balm so it glides easily over the skin.
I use this on my face to moisturize or any other area that needs a little extra love. It can also be used as a spot treatment for blemishes and red skin. If your skin feels shiny or greasy after using it, you’ve used too much!
